VHVSG offers immediate Support, Assistance & Advocacy to Families & Friends of Homicide Victims. VHVSG strives to help survivors with a program designed to cope with the grief & trauma; to help seek justice for their loved one's & to help survivors rebuild their lives.

Most victims of homicide are alienated and distrustful of government, law enforcement personnel and believe psychological counseling is ineffectual.  This can lead them to feeling confused and increasing paralysed.  A critical lack of sensitive and appropriate services only exacerbates their difficulties in dealing with the horrific event.  Homicide has the most intense impact, compared to other crimes.

As traumatic as homicide is, the aftermath is often worse.
VHVSG will assist in the information retrieval process and provide other services to homicide victims such as:-
  • de-briefing or processing of events surrounding the death;
  • liaise with & arrange for police investigators to keep in contact with family members & communicate progress of case;
  • inform victims of judicial processes;
  • assist families in dealing with the media;
  • assist with completing crimes compensation forms;
  • assist & guide in making victim impact statements;
  • help with resources & referrals as needed;
  • provide court support if required;
  • liaise with other government & private support/welfare agencies;
  • provide long term service management, of homicide victims.

VHVSG's Victim Assistance Support Team ( VAST ) will provide immediate & specialised service management to all homicide victims.

EVERY HUMAN BEING HAS THE RIGHT TO LIVE.
NO ONE SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO UNPROVOKED ATTACK.
NO ONE SHOULD BE HARMED BY SENSELESS VIOLENCE.
